CT50-N Amplifier, DAC and built-in server

When listening to this reactive amplifier, it immediately surprises with its dynamics and extreme precision.
This ability to reproduce the details of the information is found in a balanced way throughout the spectrum, especially with strong and tense bass.
What's more, the CT50 retains its qualities even on loudspeakers that are known to be difficult and complicated to offer great stage depth in all circumstances.
With this amplifier Solen offers a digital-oriented transistor technology presenting a sound signature faithful to its ideas and very close to that of its CV40 tube amplifier.

And from a technical point of view

The CT50N concentrates all the technology developed by Solen for its amplifiers and DAC.
First of all, the BLS (Bias Lock System) deposited by Solen, performs the instantaneous measurement and pilotes the resting current of the active elements.
In contrast to most amplifiers which have a simple temperature compensation, the locking device developed by Solen provides a very high stability of the operating point and the symmetry of the push-pulll.
As a result, the optimum distortion point is guaranteed at any listening level and within the operating temperature range.
Moreover, due to the drive this amplifier retains a very controlled bias and a very low heating on average.
This integrated amplifier-router features a “double-mono” amplifier on a parallel push-pull architecture (Circlotron) with transistor.
As with the cv40, the amplification stages and phase shift are powered by high voltage, hence the large dynamic reserve.
The phase shifter is of the same type as that of some lamp amplifiers.
The integrated DAC reproduces exactly the circuitry and technique of the muDAC300 with its dual converter loaded by self-filtering audio transformers and class A stage.

The audio server section is based on an embedded micro PC with a linux operating system and open-source software that guarantees the continuity of developments.
The amplifier is connected to the network via Ethernet or wifi dongle, but it can also play audio files stored on a local USB hard drive.
This digital-oriented amplifier also features a USB-audio input powered by an Xmos processor, a spdif coaxial input with very low jitter and an optical input.
Two line inputs are still present.
Finally, these 7 kgs of technology are concentrated in a compact aluminium housing, 37 cm wide by 5 cm high with milled heat sinks
Thanks to these dimensions, the CT50N is discreet in the listening area.
