Numerical Section
This DAC is equipped with a very low jitter clock generation circuit (Wolfson WM8805). USB data flow is supported by a multi-core XMOS processor (USB asynchronous), the clock of the DAC is independent of the clock of the host.
The digital-to-analog converter consists of two independent converters (Analog Device AD1955) for the left and right channels of the stereo signal.
Analogue section
No operational amplifier is used in the signal path.
The adaptation between the digital converters and the analogue section is done via high-quality audio transformers. (Passive voltage current conversion).
The characteristics of these transformers have been determined so that they also perform the filtering function. Thanks to this "natural" filtering, active transistor or operational amplifier filters could be removed for the benefit of transparency.
At the output of the transformers, the audio signal is brought back to the line level by a class A polarized transistor amplification stage.
Power supply
The AC power supply is separated from the DAC module itself.
The MuDac300 comes with an AC power supply 12V so the rectification and filtering are mastered in the DAC module.
Each analog and digital stage has its own low-noise power supply.
The power supplies of analog blocks have been specially designed to achieve a very low level of disturbance in the audio band on the control lines.
To suppress noise coming from the source (PC or other), the S/Pdif input is isolated by transformer and the usb section is powered by the usb port and not by the DAC power supply.
